Identity Federation
TSCP Releases Identity Federation Technical Profile for A&D
The aerospace and defense industry has evolved into a worldwide partnership of customers, partners and suppliers who must adopt collaborative business models that address the issues of complexity, compliance, cost containment and risk mitigation.
TSCP has focused on the development of a specification for Identity Federation, which enables members of one organization to use their credentials to access information maintained in a separate security domain by a partnering organization. This is achieved by passing a defined set of authentication information to the host organization. Originally called Document Sharing based on Identity Federation (DSIF), IdF v.1 enables organizations to share information beyond their organizational boundaries, reduce the cost of credential management, provide a single sign-on experience to users and improve security. Corporate and government TSCP members have contributed to the development of the specification, based upon experience from the implementation of identity federation in their production environments.
Identity Federation Documentation
IdF v.1 includes the *TSCP Technical Profile v.1.1* for the use of Security Assertion Mark-up Language (SAML) attributes in a manner that enables interoperability among collaborating organizations. The identity attributes provide a baseline set of identity information that must be passed between an Identity Provider and Relying Party.
