NSTIC Federal Funding Opportunity # 2013-NIST-NSTIC-01
On September 17, 2013, the Transglobal Secure Collaboration Participation, Inc. (TSCP), a 501(C)(6) non-profit technical trade association, was awarded a pilot grant by the Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to support the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC), an initiative signed by President Obama in April 2011. The pilot grant is titled “Trust Framework Development Guidance for Small and Medium-sized Businesses and Financial Sectors Pilots.”
Our pilot grant team brings together governments, leading system integrators, technology solution providers, small and medium-sized businesses and financial services sector participants to collaborate in achieving NSTIC’s goals. The TSCP pilots will use “trusted credentials” to conduct secure business-to-business, government-to-business and retail transactions for small and medium-sized businesses and financial services companies. One of the pilots, for example, will consist of using the trusted credentials issued by small and medium-sized companies to conduct secure online business transactions with a major financial services provider. One critical outcome of the TSCP pilots will be the development of an open source, technology-neutral Trust Framework Development Guidance document that can provide a standard for consistent and convenient online transactions to enable secure and privacy-enhancing online access for business and consumers.
